This month I kicked off #lastweekslove. Here’s how it works for me:
It came about because last year I only wrote about things that made me mad, so I wanted to try to focus on something positive once a week. Also, I have a tendency towards wallowing in comforting rewatches when the world is shit, so another goal was for me to seek out things I might love. So far so good! January’s picks after the jump.
Week 1, Lion
Week 2, “Ten Meter Tower” (allowing Chrome to translate that page resulted in dodgy but decipherable subtitles.)
Week 3, Tampopo
Honorable mention: Dumplin’, a YA novel about a round girl in a small Texas town, who has an obsession with Dolly Parton & whose mom runs the local beauty pageant.
Week 4, the initial Sanvers arc on Supergirl, Kiss the Girls That We Want to Kiss
Honorable mention: “Getting Fat in a Healthy Way“, a film I saw at this year’s SciFi Fantasy Short Film Festival about the challenges of finding love in weak gravity. I had been nervous from the title, but it was lovely.
It’s not too late to join in, however you want. Instagram, Twitter, shouting into the void…the more positivity the better
